Stargazing at the Tulane Observatory
I organize observing sessions at the Tulane Observatory for community members, neighbors, and students from New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The sessions educate attendees on lunar cycles, planetary phenomena, and other celestial events. The sessions occur once or twice each quarter. Thank you, Professor Dan Purrington, for supporting these events! Please email me if you're interested in attending a future session.
Women's Flat Track Roller Derby
Although I have retired from Big Easy Roller Derby (for now), I will always support the roller derby community for their unwavering support to women's empowerment and community through competitive sports. The Women's Flat Track Derby Association, which serves as the governing body for flat track roller derby, ensures that all people and their identities are respected and valued.
New Orleans Musicians' Clinic and Assistance Foundation
I had the privilege of working with NOMAF as a Community Outreach Coordinator for a couple of years. I assisted with organizing community wellness events, fundraisers, blood drives, flu shot distribution and healthcare signup assistance for the uninsured and underinsured community of New Orleans' culture bearers.
Project Elevation - NOLA Over Kili
The project was established to raise awareness for women’s global fight to overcome violence in all its forms. We fundraised $10,000 for two women’s charities, Give a Heart to Africa (Moshi, Tanzania) and Women With A Vision (New Orleans, LA). The project led an 8-day hike up Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, to engage communities at home and abroad.
