Welcome!

Historically, the earth sciences have struggled to attract and retain voices from diverse backgrounds. I want to change that. Education is important to me because it empowers people to question things they don’t understand and advocate for themselves and others. It provides an opportunity to become the thing of your dreams. The late Honorable John Lewis said, “Get into trouble, good trouble, necessary trouble.” My tenacity for good trouble is why I am determined to rewrite the narrative and actively solicit Black voices to be represented in a white male-dominated industry. I seek to change the picture of a scientist and inspire the current and future generations of Black women.

I am a Stephen Feinberg Scholar!

Thank you to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation for this opportunity. I am truly grateful.

I
am inspired daily by my fellow grad students in the School of Ocean Science and Engineering at USM for their outstanding work; they are all-around wonderful people. This department and its faculty do incredible science; I've learned so much over the past few years. Thank you all for your support. I could not have done this alone.

I had the privilege to moderate a Black In Marine Science discussion, BIMS Dives, about Innovation and Technology; the episode featured Mr. Brandon Barney of Primary Ocean, with ASL provided by Vidman Barber.

There is much work to be done in diversity, equity, and inclusion in ocean science, and I believe organizations like BIMS are essential to support these efforts. If you get a chance to check it out, I welcome any feedback. Thank you!
